Our Team

Dr. Camen is a full-scope, California-licensed optometrist with diverse experience in the private, corporate, hospital, and military sectors of primary care optometry.

After completing the pre-optometry program at Ferris State University in Michigan, Dr. Camen went on to graduate cum laude from the Illinois College of Optometry, earning both her Doctorate of Optometry and Bachelor of Science in Visual Science in 2008. Prior to serving as a Medical Officer in the U.S. Navy from 2009-2012, she developed her foundational skills while working as an Associate Optometrist for Lenscrafters. Dr. Camen returned to private practice in 2012 and has since polished her optometric skills with nationally renowned ophthalmic surgeons both in the Chicagoland area and now in San Diego. Dr. Camen is also a recognized adjunct faculty member at two national Colleges of Optometry, and in 2010, she was hand-selected for the esteemed role of Examiner in the administration of the National Board of Optometry Examination.

Along with providing primary eye care, Dr. Camen also specializes in sports and performance optometry and the management of dry eye disease. She prides herself on the latest and greatest in technology for doing such.

In her spare time, Dr. Camen stays active. She enjoys all things outdoors including rock climbing, fishing, kayaking, gardening, alfresco dining/sipping – and above all, she’s a complete animal lover! Dr. Camen and her two fur-baby assistants (Slater and Bowie) are greatly looking forward to meeting you and becoming your local eye care provider.

Jermaine Taylor is a certified, licensed optician with more than two decades of dedicated customer‐service experience. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, he brings local insight and a passion for precision optics to every interaction. Known for his energetic approach and unwavering professionalism, Jermaine has built a reputation for delivering personalized eyewear solutions that combine style, comfort, and optimal vision.

- Certified Licensed Optician, state of California 

Jermaine’s formal training at American Career College provided him with a strong technical foundation in lens design, frame fitting, and ophthalmic dispensing. His certification underscores a commitment to ongoing education and adherence to the highest industry standards.

 Professional Experience 

With over 20 years in customer service and optical retail environments, Jermaine has: 
- Guided thousands of clients through frame selection and lens customization 
- Collaborated with optometrists and ophthalmologists to ensure seamless patient care 
- Trained and mentored junior staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement 
- Implemented technology upgrades—from digital lens surfacing to advanced frame‐parameter software—to improve turnaround times and accuracy 

His ability to blend technical know‐how with a warm, approachable demeanor has earned him consistent praise from colleagues and clients alike.

Personal Interests  

Outside the optical shop, Jermaine is an avid golfer who approaches the links with the same precision he applies to his craft. Whether refining his short game or exploring new courses around Southern California, he values the strategic thinking and patience that golf demands. His competitive spirit and love of teamwork make him a natural mentor both on the green and in the workplace.
